East Masi Street

Running parallel to the eastern wall of the Meenakshi Temple, East Masi Street is Madurais primary destination for handicrafts, religious souvenirs, and artisan goods. Shops here stock brassware, bronze idols, wooden toys, bell-metal lamps, stone carvings, and batik fabrics, making it the best street in the city for culturally rooted keepsakes. The street has roots in the Nayak era, when the mada streets were designed as commercial and ceremonial corridors encircling the temple.
