Madmaheshwar is a serene temple town in Uttarakhand, located in the Rudraprayag district at an altitude of about 3,289 meters. It is one of the Panch Kedar temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be built by the Pandavas. Surrounded by snow-clad peaks and alpine meadows, the temple can be reached only by a trek through forests and mountain villages. The peaceful setting, the sound of bells, and the view of Chaukhamba peaks make Madmaheshwar a truly divine experience.

Intercity connectivity and travel options

Dehradun Jolly Grant airport (~220 km) is the nearest. Rishikesh or Rudraprayag railheads then road to Ukhimath (~185 km from Rishikesh) and onward to Ransi trailhead (~10 km from Ukhimath).

No motorised transport beyond Ransi village. Trek 24 km on foot from Ransi to Madmaheshwar. Ponies and porters available at Ransi.

Madmaheshwar temple is open only May to November - carry enough food for the 2-day trek as dhabas at the top are basic.
