Papahareshwar Temple

Shiva shrine near the crater featuring a stepped tank and an ornately carved Nandi mandapa.

Papahareshwar Temple is a Shiva shrine set within the cluster of ancient temples ringing the Lonar crater, distinguished by a stepped tank and an ornately carved Nandi mandapa facing the main shrine. Like several temples in the area it shows its age through weathering, yet the surviving carvings still reflect the same basaltic craftsmanship seen at Daityasudan and Kumareshwar. It rewards visitors willing to walk a little further off the main trekking path around the rim.
