Daityasudan Temple

Chalukya-era Vishnu temple on the crater rim, celebrated for detailed carvings in the Hemadpanthi style.

Daityasudan Temple stands on the northern rim of the crater and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu's victory over the demon Lonasura, the figure believed to have given Lonar its name. Built in the Hemadpanthi style during the Chalukya period, the temple's intricate carvings and sculpted panels draw comparisons to the artistry at Ajanta and Ellora. Though partly weathered, it remains the most architecturally significant structure at Lonar and a focal point for both pilgrims and history enthusiasts.
