Ambar Lake, sometimes called Chhota Lonar, is a small circular depression about 700 metres from the main crater, believed to have been formed by a fragment of the same meteorite that created Lonar Lake. Unlike the saline main lake, its water stays clean enough for local farming use. A Hanuman shrine sits at its edge, and the contrast in scale between this modest pool and the vast crater nearby makes for an easy, worthwhile short detour.
