Tarkeshwar Mahadev is a Shiva shrine set in thick deodar forest, commonly visited as a day trip from Lansdowne. Distances are quoted around 17 to 38 km depending on the road, so allow a half day and a taxi from town. A short walk from the roadhead reaches the temple and the small Gauri Kund. Stay in Lansdowne and start in the morning if you also want Tip-in-Top at sunset.
