Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary covers a large stretch of Aravalli forest that wraps around the fort hills and runs south toward Ranakpur. Jeep safaris from Kelwara and other gates are the usual way to explore tracks where leopards, wolves, sloth bears, striped hyenas, sambar and nilgai live, along with a rich variety of birds. The Ranakpur side has its own entry close to the Jain temples, and horse-riding trails cross the forest between Ranakpur and the fort. Winter mornings are best for cooler drives and clearer sightings. Safari tickets do not include fort entry, so plan both separately if you want the full day.
