Lighthouse Beach is Kovalam's busiest crescent, named for the red and white Vizhinjam Lighthouse on the rocky headland above it. Calm stretches are popular for swimming when the sea is settled, and the promenade fills with cafes and seafood shacks by evening. Water sports operators work the busier hours. Start here for the classic Kovalam postcard view, then walk north toward Hawa Beach.
