Pathiramanal Island

Pathiramanal Island sits in the middle of Vembanad Lake and is accessible only by boat, its name translating to sands of the night. The island draws a steady stream of migratory birds and is often combined with a Kumarakom backwater cruise rather than visited on its own. Its narrow paths and thick vegetation give it a secluded feel distinct from the more developed Kumarakom shoreline nearby.
