Siddhagiri Gramjivan Museum

An open-air wax and cement sculpture museum at Kaneri Math depicting pre-colonial Indian village life across 80 scenes and 300 life-size figures.

Siddhagiri Gramjivan Museum at the ancient Kaneri Math, 14 km from Kolhapur, is one of India's most remarkable open-air museums. Spread across 7 acres, it depicts pre-colonial Maharashtra village life through 80 meticulously crafted scenes featuring over 300 life-size figures in wax and cement, showing agriculture, crafts, festivals, education, medicine, trade and domestic life as they existed before urbanisation. The math itself has a history of over 1,300 years and its premises include a 125-foot deep well and a 42-foot Shiva idol. The museum is an immersive and educational experience unlike any other in Maharashtra.
