Paliam Palace and Nalukettu

Former home of the Paliath Achans at Chendamangalam, now a museum on the Muziris Heritage circuit.

The Paliam Palace and the nearby Paliam Nalukettu at Chendamangalam belonged to the Paliath Achans, who served as hereditary prime ministers to the Rajas of Cochin for about two centuries. The palace, built in the Kerala and Dutch styles, now houses a museum with old documents, furniture and objects from the family's history. The Nalukettu, a traditional house built around a central courtyard, shows how a large joint family lived. Both are part of the Muziris Heritage Project. Check opening days before visiting.
