Raneh Falls on the Ken River near Khajuraho is a spectacular natural phenomenon where the Ken River cascades through a dramatic gorge of naturally formed columns of granite and basalt rock in pink, red, and grey hues. The gorge is about 5 km long and 30 metres deep, with the crystallised volcanic rock creating formations that resemble natural pillars. The falls are most impressive during and after the monsoon when the river flows in full force. The site is within the Panna Tiger Reserve buffer zone and is home to crocodiles and various bird species along the river.
