One of the older and simpler temples of Khajuraho's Eastern Group, the Brahma Temple sits on the banks of Khajur Sagar lake in a setting that softens its plain stonework. Despite its name, the temple is dedicated to Vishnu, likely nicknamed after a four-faced linga found inside. Built in the 10th century, it shares the unadorned style of the early Chandela period rather than the elaborate carvings of the later Western Group. A peaceful lakeside stop on the eastern village walk.
