The reclining Vishnu statue in the pool at Budhanilkantha Temple.
Budhanilkantha Temple holds a long black stone image of Vishnu reclining on a bed of serpents in a sunken pool. Devotees know the form as Jal Narayan, or the sleeping Vishnu. Visitors look from the surrounding platform. Do not touch the statue, and ask before photographing it. Many people come in the morning or late afternoon. The temple sits in Budhanilkantha, below Shivapuri hill, and the visit itself is a temple stop, not a trek.
