Bekal Fort

Bekal Fort spreads across forty acres on a headland jutting into the Arabian Sea, its keyhole shape built by Shivappa Nayaka of Keladi in the 17th century. Visitors climb the observation tower for sweeping coastal views, explore old tunnels once used for defense, and wander past crumbling ramparts and a small mosque nearby. Managed by the Archaeological Survey, it remains Kerala's largest and most visited fort, especially striking at sunset when the sea light catches the laterite walls.
