The Munshi Aziz Bhat Museum occupies a restored nineteenth century caravanserai that once served traders moving between Central Asia and Kashmir along the Silk Route. Named after a prominent local trader, the museum displays coins, manuscripts, textiles and household objects gathered from decades of cross border commerce. Photographs and ledgers trace Kargil's role as a halting point between Srinagar, Leh and Skardu. Run by the trader's descendants, the museum offers a rare, intimate window into the town's mercantile past that most Ladakh itineraries overlook entirely.
