Rising 133 feet from a rocky islet in the sea off Kanyakumari, the Thiruvalluvar Statue is a monumental tribute to the ancient Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkural. Sculpted by V. Ganapathi Sthapati, the statue was unveiled in 2000 after 10 years of construction. The 38-foot base represents the 38 chapters of virtue in the Thirukkural, while the 95-foot statue represents the remaining 95 chapters. Visitors reach it by ferry from Kanyakumari and can ascend to the upper levels for sweeping sea views.
