Padmanabhapuram Palace, located about 55 km from Kanyakumari town in the Kanyakumari district, is one of the finest examples of traditional Kerala wooden architecture in existence. Built in the 16th century by the Travancore kings, the palace complex features intricately carved ceilings of medicinal herbs and jackwood, polished black granite floors, antique murals, and Chinese-style tiles. Maintained by the Kerala government, it served as the capital of the Travancore kingdom and remains one of the most visited heritage sites in South India.
