Sarhi is one of the four core safari zones of Kanha Tiger Reserve, with Kanha, Kisli and Mukki, on the south eastern side of the park. Dense sal and bamboo forest and fewer vehicles make it quieter than the central zones, with tigers, leopards, gaur, sambar and many birds.
Sarhi is entered through the Sarhi gate. Book core permits on the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department portal, forest.mponline.gov.in. The core is open from 1 October to 30 June, with morning and afternoon shifts. Stay on the south side near Mukki or Sarhi if your permits are for this zone, as the north side lodges are a long drive away.
