Maharana Pratap Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary

Wetland sanctuary on a man made lake near Kangra, hosting migratory birds from December to February.

Maharana Pratap Sagar, better known as Pong Dam Lake, spreads across the lower Kangra valley as one of the largest wetlands in northern India. Migratory birds arrive from Siberia and other cold regions between December and February, drawing birdwatchers and photographers to its shores. Boating points around the lake add a leisurely option for visitors, and the surrounding hills give the reservoir a scenic, uncrowded backdrop.
