Vishnuprayag marks the meeting of the Alaknanda and Dhauliganga rivers close to Joshimath, ranking among the five Panch Prayags considered sacred along the Alaknanda's course. A small Vishnuprayag temple and several ashrams sit near the confluence, and the turbulent white water where the two rivers merge draws rafting enthusiasts as well as pilgrims making the short stop en route to Badrinath.
