Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary covers roughly 195 square kilometers of hill forest on Jamshedpur's northern edge, established in 1975 to protect its resident elephant population alongside leopards, sloth bears, and barking deer. Hiking trails wind up to a Shiva temple at the summit, drawing pilgrims during Shivratri when the climb becomes a seasonal ritual. The sanctuary also offers wide views back over the city and the Subarnarekha valley. Visits are best planned for early morning or late afternoon.
