Sam Sand Dunes

Sam Sand Dunes sit about 40 km west of Jaisalmer and are the most accessible part of the great Thar Desert. The dunes stretch wide and high, offering classic Rajasthani desert landscapes at their most dramatic. Camel rides, jeep safaris, sandboarding, and overnight stays in desert camps are the main draws. Evenings here are exceptional, with folk music, Rajasthani dance performances, bonfires, and a sky full of stars once the sun sets. The annual Desert Festival held every February draws large crowds. The best time to visit is October to March when the heat is manageable.
