The Longewala War Memorial stands at the site of the Battle of Longewala, fought on the night of 4 to 5 December 1971. A company of the 23rd Battalion, Punjab Regiment, under Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri held the post against a much larger Pakistani force with tanks until Indian Air Force Hunter jets arrived at first light. The site has captured Pakistani tanks and vehicles, original bunkers, a small museum and a short documentary film on the battle. It is about 110 to 120 km from Jaisalmer, close to the border, and is often combined with the Tanot Mata temple.

- How to Reach: About 2.5 hours by road from Jaisalmer via Ramgarh. Hire a taxi for the day and combine it with Tanot Mata. Carry a government photo ID; foreign nationals need prior permission to visit the border area.
