Jaisalmer War Museum

A free museum run by the Indian Army honouring the 1971 Battle of Longewala, with tanks, aircraft, and war memorabilia on display.

The Jaisalmer War Museum, opened in 2015, was conceived as a tribute to the soldiers who fought in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, particularly the Battle of Longewala. Spread across 10 acres on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Highway, the museum has two large information halls, an audio-visual room, and an open-air display of military hardware including tanks, guns, jeeps, and a Hunter aircraft contributed by the Indian Air Force. Murals of fallen soldiers and personal accounts from veterans make the experience moving. Entry is free for all visitors and the museum is organized by the Indian Army.
