Gadisar Lake was built in 1400 AD by Raja Rawal Jaisal as the primary water source for Jaisalmer city. Over the centuries, temples, shrines, chhatris, and ghats were built along its banks, creating a setting that is both serene and atmospheric. The main entrance is through the Tilon-ki-Pol, a finely carved yellow sandstone archway installed by a royal courtesan of the Jaisalmer king. The lake is at its most beautiful at sunrise and sunset when the fort walls in the background reflect gold against the water. Boating is available and an evening light show runs at around 7:00 PM.
