Bastar Palace

Historic white and blue palace, former capital of Bastar kingdom, still home to royal family.

Bastar Palace served as the capital of the princely state of Bastar until India's independence in 1948, when the kingdom integrated into the nation. This striking white and blue structure displays simple yet dignified architecture reflecting the region's cultural heritage. Though most rooms remain reserved for the royal family, visitors access the entrance hall displaying portraits of various Maharajas tracing royal lineage. The current Maharaja Kamal Chandra Bhanj Deo maintains an advisory role promoting Bastar's cultural traditions and tourism. The palace grounds contain the important Danteshwari Temple, creating a unified historical complex. Visitors gain insights into Bastar's royal history and governance under the Kakatiya dynasty.
