Chausath Yogini Temple

10th-century temple dedicated to Goddess Durga and 64 yoginis, built by Kalachuri dynasty.

The Chausath Yogini Temple stands atop a hill overlooking Bhedaghat, dating to the 10th century AD when the Kalachuri kingdom built it. This ancient shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga and her 64 yoginis, with a distinctive circular layout rare in Indian temple architecture. Stone sculptures line the walls, though many were damaged over centuries. A steep climb rewards visitors with panoramic views of the Narmada River and surrounding countryside. The temple's architecture closely resembles the famous temples of Khajuraho, making it architecturally significant.
