Chandi Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Chandi, a fierce form of Durga, and stands on top of Neel Parvat in the Shivalik hills. It is one of the Panch Tirth of Haridwar and a Siddh Peeth. The original idol is said to have been installed by the sage Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. Visitors can take the cable car from Chandighat or trek up through the forest, a walk of about 3 km each way. The temple offers expansive views of the Ganga valley and the surrounding Shivalik range. It sees especially large crowds during Navratri.
