Elephant Stables is a grand structure that once housed the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. This impressive building features 11 large domed chambers, each designed to accommodate an elephant. The architecture showcases a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic styles, with each dome designed differently, some in Hindu style and others in Islamic style. The structure is one of the best-preserved buildings in Hampi and provides insights into the royal lifestyle and the importance of elephants in the Vijayanagara court. The stables are located near the Zenana Enclosure and are part of the royal palace complex. The building demonstrates the architectural sophistication of the Vijayanagara period and is a testament to the empire's wealth and power.
