Navagraha Temple (Temple of the Nine Planets) is located on the crest of Chitrasal Hill (Navagraha Hill) in Guwahati, Assam. It is an ancient center for astrology and astronomy, with the temple inner sanctum containing nine lingams representing the nine celestial bodies of Hindu astronomy — the Sun (Surya), Moon (Chandra), Mars ( Mangala), Mercury (Budha), Jupiter (Brihaspati), Venus (Shukra), Saturn (Shani), Rahu, and Ketu. The temple features a distinctive orange archway (torana) with a stylized sunburst design in red and yellow, stone stairs leading up to the complex, and a red dome structure. The temple is dedicated to the Sun (Aditya) and the Nine Planets (Navagrahas) in Hindu astrology. Each deity is represented by a sacred Shiva Lingam wrapped in colored clothes. This revered site serves as a major hub for Vedic astrology and spiritual research, offering visitors not only a deep dive into cosmic traditions but also panoramic views of Guwahati city and the Brahmaputra valley.
