The Heritage Transport Museum at Taoru traces the story of travel in India across about 90,000 sq ft of air conditioned galleries. Exhibits run from palanquins, howdahs, bullock carts and horse carriages to bicycles, scooters and more than 75 vintage and classic cars. The railway gallery has a recreated platform with a restored 1930s royal saloon and steam locomotives outside, and a 1940s Piper Cub aircraft hangs in the aviation gallery. The museum is supported by the Ministry of Culture and has a cafe. It lies about 40 km south-west of central Gurugram off NH 48, roughly an hour by road, so plan it as a half day trip.
