Kamleshwar Dam

Reservoir on the Hiran River inside Gir, known as a major marsh crocodile and birdwatching stop.

Kamleshwar Dam sits on the Hiran River within the Gir landscape and is often called the lifeline of the forest. The reservoir supports one of the densest concentrations of mugger crocodiles in India and draws waterbirds through the cooler months. Many safari routes and local excursions include a viewpoint stop here for wildlife and river scenery. Access follows forest regulations, so visit as part of an authorised safari or guided outing from Sasan Gir.
