The Valley of Flowers is a high alpine valley in Chamoli district, declared a national park in 1982 and listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site together with Nanda Devi National Park. Its meadows fill with hundreds of species of wildflowers in the monsoon, with the best bloom usually from July to August. The entry gate is about 3 to 4 km from Ghangaria, and the valley is a day visit only, as camping and overnight stays inside the park are not allowed. Many visitors combine it with Hemkund Sahib from the same stay in Ghangaria.
