Do Drul Chorten

Large stupa with prayer wheels.

The Do Drul Chorten is one of the most iconic and revered stupas in Sikkim, standing majestically on a hillock in Gangtok. Built-in 1945 by Trulshik Rinpoche, this golden-topped monument was constructed to drive away evil spirits and is surrounded by 108 prayer wheels inscribed with sacred mantras. The serene complex houses rare Buddhist artifacts, holy books, and the Zung (mantras), attracting devotees who perform ritual circumambulations in a peaceful atmosphere. Its traditional Tibetan architecture and spiritual significance make it a profound landmark for pilgrims and travelers seeking tranquility amidst the Himalayan landscape.
