At Surya Kund the Bhagirathi plunges through a narrow gorge in the rock just below Gangotri. Gauri Kund lies on the other side of the small iron bridge, and both are a short walk from the temple. Not to be confused with Surya Kund at Yamunotri or Gaurikund near Kedarnath.
