Audumbar Tree

Sacred fig tree beside the Sangam where devotees gather to read the Guru Charitra scripture aloud.

The Audumbar Tree grows near the Sangam ghat and holds deep significance for Dattatreya devotees, who believe Shri Narasimha Saraswati often meditated in its shade. Groups gather beneath its branches for collective parayana, the ritual reading of the Guru Charitra text, particularly during festival periods and on Thursdays. The tree is fenced and maintained by the temple trust, with space around it for seated recitation. Visitors often pair a stop here with their Sangam bath, treating the two as one devotional stretch of the riverbank.
