Palm Jumeirah is the largest of Dubai's artificial islands, built in the shape of a palm tree with a trunk, fronds and an outer crescent breakwater. It is best appreciated from above, and the shape is easy to spot from observation decks in the city and from planes landing in Dubai.

The trunk holds hotels, apartments and malls, while the fronds are lined with private villas. The outer crescent is home to Atlantis, The Palm, the pink landmark hotel at the tip, along with other resorts and beach clubs. The View at The Palm, an observation deck in The Palm Tower on the trunk, looks straight down the island.

The Palm West Beach and the boardwalk along the crescent are good places for an evening walk with views back to the Dubai Marina skyline.

  • Address: Palm Jumeirah, Dubai
  • How to Reach: The Palm Monorail runs along the trunk from Gateway station, near the Dubai Tram, to Atlantis. Taxis and app cabs reach all parts of the island; the crescent is linked to the mainland by road and tunnel.
