Dubai Creek is the saltwater inlet that split the old town into Bur Dubai and Deira, and the city's trade grew up along its banks. The cheapest and most memorable way to see it is on an abra, the small wooden water taxi that has carried people across the Creek for generations.
Abras leave from Bur Dubai Abra Station near the textile souk and cross to the Deira Old Souk side in a few minutes, passing dhows moored along the wharves. The crossing is run by the Roads and Transport Authority and fares are low; check RTA for the current fare and payment rules.
Combine the crossing with Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood on the Bur Dubai side and the spice and gold souks in Deira. Evenings are cooler and the waterfront lights make for good photos.
- Address: Bur Dubai Abra Station, Al Souq Al Kabeer, Bur Dubai, Dubai
- How to Reach: Walk from Al Fahidi Metro station (Green Line) through the Bur Dubai souk to Bur Dubai Abra Station. On the Deira side, boats land near the Old Souk and spice souk, a short walk from the Gold Souk.
