Perched on a hill above town, Thupsung Dhargyeling Monastery is a modern seat of Tibetan Buddhist learning inaugurated in 2017 by the Dalai Lama himself, who named it place of the flourishing of the Buddha's speech. The main hall holds vivid murals, thangkas, and a large prayer wheel, and the structure remains the biggest gompa in the Dirang region. Visitors can view the private chambers used by the Dalai Lama during his stay, alongside sweeping views of the Dirang river below.
