Chug Valley

An offbeat Monpa village valley near Dirang, known for autumn Cosmos flower blooms and quiet homestays.

Chug Valley lies a short drive from Dirang through narrow, scenic roads, opening into grasslands framed by pine forests and terraced farms. It is home to the Duhumbi Monpa community, whose handmade paper and weaving traditions are still practiced in the village. Between September and October, the valley turns pink and white with blooming Cosmos flowers, drawing photographers and day-trippers. Mobile connectivity is limited and there are no ATMs, so travellers typically carry cash and stay in one of the small local homestays.
