Kachari Ruins

The Kachari Ruins preserve remnants of the medieval Dimasa Kachari kingdom that once ruled this stretch of the Dhansiri valley. Scattered across a grassy enclosure, the mushroom-domed pillars stand eight to ten feet tall, their sandstone faces carved with birds, flowers, spearheads and other motifs believed to hold ritual significance. V-shaped stones nearby are thought to be memorial markers. Historians read the site as evidence of a fertility cult tied to the kingdom's court life, making it Dimapur's most important window into its pre-colonial past.
