Dibru Saikhowa National Park lies in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of eastern Assam, on the floodplain of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries. Its wetlands, grassland and swamp forest are known for feral horses, rare white winged wood ducks and a long list of resident and migratory birds, and Gangetic river dolphins are often seen in the rivers around it.

The park is explored mostly by boat and on foot with local guides, from Guijan near Tinsukia. Check entry permits and boat arrangements with the Assam Forest Department before you go.

  • How to Reach: Guijan, the usual entry, is near Tinsukia, about 50 km from Dibrugarh. Dibrugarh has the nearest airport.
