Bahubali Statue

39-ft monolithic Jain statue atop Ratnagiri Hill, a symbol of renunciation.

The Bahubali Statue at Dharmasthala stands 39 feet tall on Ratnagiri Hill, carved from a single granite rock and transported 64 km from Karkala in 1970. Installed by Dr. Veerendra Heggade in 1982, it depicts the Digambara Jain figure of Lord Bahubali in serene contemplation, representing the conquest of ego and earthly desires. The Mahamastakabhisheka ceremony has been performed here thrice. A 20-minute climb up the hill steps rewards visitors with sweeping views over the temple town.
