Shiv Ganga Kund is a small but deeply significant sacred pond situated just 200 meters from the main Baidyanath Dham complex. According to legend, the pond was created by Ravana, who needed water to purify himself before carrying the Shiva lingam to Lanka. Devotees taking part in the pilgrimage circuit traditionally begin by bathing in the Shiv Ganga before proceeding to the Jyotirlinga for darshan, believing the waters cleanse the soul and prepare one for the sacred encounter within the temple. The kund is visited continuously throughout the day by pilgrims.
