Old Famous Jalebi Wala

Old Famous Jalebi Wala has operated at the corner of Dariba Kalan in Chandni Chowk since 1884, when Lala Nem Chand Jain opened the shop after moving to Delhi from a village near Agra. The jalebis here are made using pure desi ghee and khandsari sugar rather than regular refined sugar, giving them a distinct texture and flavour. Each jalebi is fried fresh and served hot, often paired with a generous helping of rabri on the side. The recipe has stayed within the Jain family for four generations without major changes. Over the decades the shop has drawn well known patrons, including members of the Kapoor and Gandhi families, and it remains a fixture on any Old Delhi food walk.
