The National Gallery of Modern Art is housed in Jaipur House, once the Delhi residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, near India Gate. It opened in 1954 and now holds over 15,000 paintings, sculptures, and prints, covering Indian art from the mid-1800s up to present day work. The galleries are spread across several wings, and exhibitions change from time to time alongside the permanent collection. Its location near India Gate and the National Science Centre makes it easy to add to a museum focused day out.
