Built around 1354 by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq, Feroz Shah Kotla was once the citadel of his capital city Firozabad. Today it stands in ruins near Delhi Gate. The main highlight is a polished stone Ashokan pillar from the 3rd century BC, placed on top of a pyramid shaped structure. The fort also has a Jami Masjid still used for Friday prayers and an old stepwell. It gets far fewer visitors than Red Fort or Purana Qila, so it makes for a peaceful visit, and locals often talk about old stories of djinns here.
