Shnongpdeng sits a few kilometres upstream from Dawki town on a wider, quieter stretch of the Umngot. Travelers park above the village, walk down to a pedestrian suspension bridge, and reach white pebble banks lined with tented camps. This is where most overnight visitors stay for dawn boat rides, kayaking, snorkelling in clear spells, and supervised cliff jumps when water levels allow. Evenings are simple: river sound, camp food and open sky. It is calmer than the Dawki day-trip ghat for anyone spending a night by the water.
