The East Rapti River forms the northern boundary of Chitwan National Park at Sauraha. The riverbank in the village is where people gather for sunset, often with rhinos or deer grazing on the far bank in the dry season. Dugout canoe trips downstream from here are a quiet way to see gharials, mugger crocodiles and kingfishers before walking back through the forest with a guide. Keep a safe distance from wild animals on the bank, especially rhinos.
